ABOUT STACEY
Stacey was born in Los Angeles, California. She wrote her first poem at age eight. As an adult she has lived in Panama, Central America and later Brooklyn, New York. She embraced many aspects of the cultures she was exposed to like cooking Caribbean food, dancing to bachata, salsa, and merengue. Her love for languages aided her to become fluent in Spanish. Stacey is also a former school librarian and has actively been involved in a spiritual mentorship for women and girls in North and South America for over 30 years. The program teaches divine principals to help women build solid foundations for the future.
Experiencing life in varied environments stimulated her already active imagination and enhanced her zest for cultural diversity. This prompted Stacey to obtain a certificate from the Institute of Children's Literature. In August 2016, she was awarded the 'Jessie Redmon Fauset' literary award by Leimert Park Village Bookfair, for PRISCILLA'S HOMECOMING ACROSS THE SEA. Stacey also is a member of SCBWI because her desire is to make books easily accessible to young people through various outlets.
She believes there has always been a great need for diversity in children's books and storytellers. Stacey feels it is a confidence booster when children see themselves mirrored in a positive story. She currently lives in California with her husband and they both enjoy international travel.
