Stacey was born in Los Angeles, California. As an adult she has lived in Panama, Central America and later Brooklyn, New York. She embraced many aspects of the cultures she was exposed to like cooking Caribbean food, dancing to bachata, salsa, and merengue. Stacey is a former school librarian and has actively been involved in a mentorship for women and girls in local communities for over 25 years. The program teaches divine principals to help women build solid foundations for the future.
Experiencing life in diverse environments stimulated her already active imagination and enhanced her zest for cultural diversity. This prompted Stacey to obtain a certificate from the Institute of Children's Literature and a degree in Spanish. In August 2016, she was awarded the 'Jessie Redmon Fauset' literary award by Leimert Park Village Bookfair, for PRISCILLA'S HOMECOMING ACROSS THE SEA. Stacey also is a member of SCBWI because her desire is to make books easily accessible to young people through various outlets.
She believes there has always been a great need for diversity in children's books and storytellers. Stacey feels it is a confidence booster when children see themselves mirrored in a positive story. She currently lives in California with her husband and they both enjoy international travel.
